Drivers face stunt driving charges

Two men in their 20s have been charged with stunt driving under the Highway Traffic Act after a three-vehicle crash Monday night (July 25) at a Brampton intersection that police suspect was caused by street racing.

The crash occurred around 11 p.m. at the intersection of Williams Parkway and Rutherford Road, according to Peel Regional Police.

Witnesses say two drivers were travelling at a high rate of speed and street racing when they sped into the intersection and hit a third vehicle that then flipped over.

Two people, including one of the accused men, were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police are not releasing the names of the accused men because the stunt driving charge falls under the Highway Traffic Act and isn’t a criminal charge. As a result of the stunt driving charge, the driver’s licence of both accused men is suspended for seven days and their vehicles are impounded for seven days.
