Two females were both charged with impaired driving after taking turns driving the same vehicle on Sunday morning.

On Sunday, October 25, 2015, at approximately 2:45 a.m., a witness observed a Buick SUV fail to stop for a red light on Dundas Street East and Thickson Road in Whitby. The SUV continued eastbound and nearly collided with other cars as it weaved into other lanes. Near Garrard Road, the female driver and female passenger were seen changing places in the SUV before proceeding eastbound and narrowly avoided a rear-end collision at Thornton Road.

The SUV pulled into a parking lot at King Street East and Wilson Road in Oshawa where the two females entered a coffee shop. Officers arrived and arrested both females without further incident.

Elisha BURKE, age 23, of King Street East in Bowmanville, is charged with: Impaired Operation; Exceed 80 mgs; and Novice Driver – Breath Alcohol Content Above Zero.

Cassandra McDOUGALL, age 22, of Concession Street East in Bowmanville, is charged with: Impaired Operation and Exceed 80 mgs. Both were later released on a Promise to Appear.
