A motorist is facing charges after driving through a fence and ending up in a backyard in a Whitby neighbourhood.

On Tuesday August 9, 2016, at 12:50 a.m. officers responded to Garden Street and Bradley Drive in Whitby after a vehicle was observed leaving the roadway and crashing through a residential fence. The car came to rest in a backyard, narrowly missing a pool. The driver fled on foot but was tracked to his residence by the K-9 Unit where he was arrested by police.

Steven BELLINGER, age 52, of Robinson Crescent in Whitby, is charged with: Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Exceed .80. He was later released on a Promise to Appear.
