The traffic unit issued 141 cell phone charges and 155 speeding charges in the last week and nabbed two stunt drivers going more than 50 km over the legal limit, according to a Monday update.

And they heard some doozies when it comes to dumb excuses.

A driver going 125 km/h in an 80 zone on Limebank Road in Sunday’s pea soup explained “”I can’t see… it’s foggy,” Const. Phil Kane reported.

“Alllllllllllllllrighty then,” Kane tweeted.

On Saturday, the unit nabbed a driver going 128 km/h in a 60 zone on the Heron Road Bridge. The driver explained he is part of a group of cars “playing a game.”

Guess he didn’t win this one: he earns himself a seven-day car impound and driver’s licence suspension plus an upcoming court appearance.

Moments later, another driver was caught in the same spot doing 112 km/h.

Const. Jon Hall, another traffic team member, summed it up on Twitter.

“Neither rain, nor ice, nor fog will discourage some #autowa drivers.”
