Firefighters examine the scene of a fire in Toronto on Wednesday, May 27, 2015.

Police say a Molotov cocktail sparked an early morning fire at a business in Toronto’s west end.

Investigators and firefighters were called to a building in the area of Eglinton Avenue just west of Keele Street shortly after 2 a.m., when witnesses reported a fire.

The fire was quickly extinguished, but police discovered it had been set by something thrown through the window of a business called Stop Traffic Tickets, a traffic ticket contestation office.

Officers told reporters on scene that someone had thrown a Molotov cocktail, a makeshift incendiary device that generally involves a bottle filled with some kind of flammable liquid with a burning cloth wick.

No one was injured, and officers are investigating.

A similar incident was reported in the same area last week, but officials have not said whether the incidents are related.
