A woman in her 80s is dead after a two-vehicle collision in Etobicoke Thursday evening.

A woman in her 80s is dead and another woman has been arrested for impaired driving after a two-vehicle collision in Etobicoke Thursday evening.

Toronto paramedics said they received a call at 6:18 p.m. for the crash near Eglinton Ave. W. and Royal York Rd. The woman was pronounced dead after being rushed to hospital in critical condition.

The woman who was driving the second vehicle was taken to hospital with minor injuries and was later arrested for impaired driving. Her age is currently unknown.

Toronto police Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook said the cause of the crash is still being looked into. Police are also investigating if the woman in her 80s experienced a medical episode before the collision.

Eglinton Ave. W. was closed both ways between Royal York Rd. and Scarlett Rd.
