A 30-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after a vehicle was stopped going the wrong way down a one-way street.

Last Saturday (July 16), around 2 a.m., an officer on patrol saw a vehicle driving north on George Street near Charlotte Street, a portion of the road that is one-way and runs south. The officer stopped the car and while speaking with the male driver noted an odour of alcohol coming from the driver’s breath.

A breathalyzer test later revealed the man had more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

As a result of the investigation Daniel William LeClair, 30, of Abound Crescent, Peterborough, was charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with more than 80mg blood alcohol content.

He was released from custody and is scheduled to attend court on Aug. 4.
