A child is in the hospital with a head injury and a suspected drunk driver has been arrested after he allegedly ran a stop sign and crashed into car carrying a family of four.

The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of Hanna Street East.

Windsor police said a red pickup truck westbound on Hanna Street slammed into a blue Chrysler that was southbound on Elsmere Avenue.

The impact sent the Chrysler crashing into a house. The truck then struck a utility pole and a parked car.

The man driving the Chrysler and the woman who was in the passenger seat were treated at hospital with minor injuries. A seven-year-old boy who was in the back seat was still being monitored at hospital Tuesday for a head injury. Police said the injury was non-life threatening. A 10-year-old child who was in the car escaped without injury.

The pickup driver suffered minor injuries. Police arrested the 24-year-old Windsor man and charged him with impaired driving causing bodily harm and having over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood causing bodily harm.
