Police say Foster Butler died of her injuries Jan. 1

A two-year-old girl struck by a vehicle in Burford on Christmas Day has died of her injuries.

Foster Butler died in hospital Jan. 1 following the collision, which took place in a driveway on Highway 53, County of Brant OPP said in a news release.

An online obituary for Butler says she passed away peacefully with family at her side at McMaster Children’s Hospital following a “tragic” accident on Christmas Day.

According to police, when they arrived they found a vehicle operated by a 28-year-old County of Brant man had struck the child.

Butler was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

OPP traffic collision investigators were called to the scene to assist with the investigation.

According to the obituary, Foster Dawn Butler — a two-and-a-half-year-old Innerkip girl — was the “cherished daughter” of Katie Clark and Jason Butler as well as a “loving little sister” and “special granddaughter.”

She will be fondly remembered by her aunts, uncles and many, many “special cousins,” the obituary reads.
