A 21-year-old man was seriously injured when his motorcycle was struck by an SUV at Thornton Road and Winchester Road in Oshawa.

On Monday, September 12, 2016, at approximately 4:18 p.m., officers from Central West Division were called to the scene of the collision and found a motorcycle driver on the ground in the middle of the roadway. Witnesses stated that a blue Yamaha motorcycle was travelling northbound when it ran the stop sign at Thornton Road and was struck by an eastbound grey Dodge Journey.

The 21-year-old New Lowell man who was driving the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. He was later transported via land ambulance to a Toronto-area trauma hospital. The 43-year-old female driver of the SUV and her 11-year-old passenger were uninjured as a result of the collision.

Members of the Durham Regional Police Traffic Services Branch, Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. Weather and road conditions were favorable at the time of the collision.
