A Brampton trucker has been accused of driving drunk while his licence was under suspension after a rear-end crash with another truck on Hwy. 401 near Woodstock.

A car hit flying debris from the initial crash that happened at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13. in the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 401 east of Woodstock. The Ministry of the Environment was called for the 200 litres of diesel fuel that spilled onto the highway, according to Oxford County OPP.

Police say a transport truck was eastbound in the far right lane when it “abruptly” slowed down and was rear-ended by a second transport.

The driver of the second truck was trapped and had to be rescued from the wreckage by Blandford-Blenheim Township Fire Department crews, according to police. He was taken to hospital by Oxford County Paramedics with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

No one else was reported injured in the crash, according to OPP Const. Stacey Culbert.

OPP officers charged the driver of the first transport truck — Gurikbal Sandhu, 36, of Brampton — with impaired driving causing bodily harm, failing to provide a breath sample and driving while suspended.
