A car slammed into a house in Oshawa, severing a natural gas line and causing a fire.

The incident occurred at Bloor Street West just after 1 a.m. on Friday.

The residents’ home and a neighbouring apartment building were evacuated by police. The residents have since been allowed to return home.

No injuries were reported.

The driver of the car fled the scene before officers arrived. She was later located walking in downtown Oshawa in good health.

The 25-year-old Whitby woman has been taken in to custody. Charges are pending.

Bloor Street was closed at Park Road for repairs and investigation. The westbound lane was expected to reopen Friday morning, but the eastbound lane will be closed until road repairs are complete.
