Police say no charges will be laid

Police say a pedestrian who was struck and killed by a car in Hamilton last month was crossing the road without the right of way.

Hamilton police say the 63-year-old driver was following the rules of the road and made attempts to avoid the collision the night of Dec. 21.

They say no charges will be laid as a result.

The crash took place around 7:30 p.m. on Highway 56 near Kirk Road.

The 55-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
