Ottawa OPP caught two drivers who were using their phones on the Queensway during rush hour on Tuesday.
Both were pulled over heading west in doubtless heavy traffic through the downtown core, one at Parkdale Avenue and the other at Rochester Street.
While bumper-to-bumper traffic may tempt you to text, it will cost you a fine of over $600 and likely a hike in your insurance rates, police warn.
To help teach this lesson, East Region OPP tweeted pictures of the two tickets.
#Hwy417 during the rush hour in @ottawacity is not the place to be texting. Please leave the phone alone while driving. These drivers will be paying over $600 each. #DriveSafe #OttTraffic ^bd pic.twitter.com/aKPotHuEbm

Sitting in traffic may be a pain in the butt and you may be tempted to start using your phone but itโs just not worth it. Upon conviction, you can be sure the insurance rates for both of these drivers will increase. Great work by OPP Ottawa Detachment members! ๐๐๐ https://t.co/nNbCqxsulK
