Police have yet to lay charges

Laureana Osias was about a month away from turning 76.

The married Mississauga mother was set to celebrate her birthday Dec. 13, but sadly, was killed while crossing the street in central Mississauga on Nov. 9.

Peel Regional Police are continuing to investigate the deadly collision, which occurred just before 1 p.m. at Hurontario Street and Elia Avenue.

Police said Osias was struck and killed by a Jeep at the busy intersection.

The driver, a 62-year-old Mississauga woman, remained on scene and has been questioned by investigators. Peel Const. Bally Saini said the investigation is ongoing and it hasn’t been determined whether charges will be laid. Police are still canvassing the area for witnesses and are looking for video that may have captured the crash.
