An expired validation sticker on a licence plate resulted in drug charges.

Barrie police say an officer pulled over a vehicle shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday heading north on Kozlov Street regarding an expired validation sticker.

While investigating, the officer discovered the vehicle’s 35-year-old male driver was suspended from driving and was arrested.

Also, police say a search of the vehicle resulted in the arrest of his 40-year-old female passenger for possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance.

The driver was also charged with the purpose of trafficking.

Police also seized a large quantity of Canadian currency and substances they believe to be heroin and crack cocaine.

They also seized drug paraphernalia, including two scales, several syringes and five cellphones.

The pair were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
