Hamilton police found three guns in a car after a late-night collision in the lower city.

In a release, police said officers responded to reports of a car colliding with a taxi near Grant Avenue around 1:10 a.m. Monday. Witnesses had reported four men fleeing the vehicle.

Police arrived to find a loaded gun visible in the back of a 2012 Acura. Two other guns and ammunition were discovered in the car.

Officers later saw four men walking north on Tisdale Street and getting into a nearby ride-hailing car with an Uber logo.

Police stopped the car, but the four men inside “fled in various directions.” Police dogs and the emergency response unit could not locate them.

The recently formed police shooting task force is investigating.

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call Det.-Sgt. Jason Cattle at 905-546-3887 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
