Hamilton police have arrested a man after two plastic bags full of “illicit drugs” were allegedly thrown from a van window during a traffic stop.

Officers conducted traffic enforcement on Tuesday at the intersection of Upper Ottawa St. and Rymal Rd. East.

Just before 10:30 AM, police attempted to pull over a white Ford van but the vehicle didn’t stop. Police say as they followed the van, two plastic bags were thrown out of a window.

The vehicle did eventually stop and police discovered the driver’s licence was suspended.

An officer retrieved the bags and found 22 grams of cocaine, 23 grams of cannabis resin, four grams of methamphetamine, 13 Percocet pills, and 13 Hydromorphone pills.

A 39-year-old man from Hamilton is facing numerous drug-trafficking charges, fail to comply with recognizance, and driving while under suspension.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
