Roommate Steals Credit Card – Arrested After Going Through Cars
A 33-year-old Lindsay woman has been arrested after she was found in possession of a stolen credit card when arrested for attempting to steal from a car on Cambridge Street south.
On Monday, June 26th, 2017 a Victoria Avenue, North rooming house resident awoke to find that the contents of her purse had been emptied out onto the kitchen table and $65.00 cash along with a credit card had been taken. The resident reported this to police and indicated that she suspected her roommate. At 9:40 pm on Monday night Kawartha Lakes Police were contacted when a Cambridge Street South resident observed a female going through their sister’s car. The caller followed the female until police arrived and arrested her. When arrested the female was found in possession of the stolen credit card, which had been reported earlier in the day. It was learned that the female had also used the credit card to make a number of purchases throughout the day.
33-year-old Naomi Barbara Wright was held in custody and appeared for a Bail Hearing at the Lindsay, Ontario Court of Justice on Tuesday, June 27th, 2017. She was charged with Possession of a Stolen Credit Card and Theft Under $5000.00.
Construction Trailer Broken Into – Tools Stolen
On June 26th, 2017 Kawartha Lakes Police were called to Fleetwood Road address for a report of a theft. It was determined that some time since Saturday, June 24th, 2017 and Monday, June 26th, 2017, a trailer parked at the side of the business was broken into and a number of power tools were taken.
Tools taken included a Milwaukee cordless drill, Milwaukee 18 volt rechargeable batteries, Milwaukee drill set, Bosch hammer drill, a Jackall jack, a Turbotorch mini torch set and a ratchet set. The total value of tools missing was over $1000.00. Dually Pickup Truck Stolen
Kawartha Lakes Police are investigating the theft of a 2001 Chevrolet Dually pick-up truck that occurred sometime over the weekend.
Police were contacted on Tuesday, June 27th, 2017 when the owner of the truck discovered it missing. It had last been seen on Friday, June 23rd, 2017 at 3;30 pm, when the owner left it parked at a St. David Stree address. The truck is described as 2001, Chevrolet 3500 dual axle pick-up truck, blue in colour. It was described as having shiny rims, a black box in the rear and a grey tailgate. Hydro Cut to Days Inn & Area Residents After Impaired Driver Strikes Pole
159 homes and the Days Inn were left without power early Monday morning after an impaired driver struck a concrete hydro pole, shearing it off at the base.
Kawartha Lakes Police were contacted shortly before 1:00 am on Wednesday, June 28th, 2017 after Mary Street West residents reported a vehicle striking a pole. When Police arrived, the found that a 2012 Ford F-150 pick-up truck had struck a pole in the 200 block of Mary Street West. The truck had been travelling eastbound on Mary Street when the driver lost control striking the pole and shearing it off at the base. The impact knocked out hydro in the area. Police spoke with the driver at the scene who admitted to drinking prior to the accident. He was arrested and transported to the KLPS where he provided samples of his breath; registering readings in excess of two times the legal limit.
Charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Exceeding the Legal Limit of Alcohol in their blood is 36-year-old Larry McDonald of Lindsay. He will appear in the Lindsay, Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, July 27th, 2017.
