Impaired driving among charges after vehicle caught going wrong way on 417

The Ontario Provincial Police is laying charges, including impaired and dangerous driving, against a Quebec woman after stopping a vehicle going westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 417 at Moodie Drive.

The incident happened around 3 a.m., Thursday.

Arita Mark, 39, of Wemindji, Quebec was charged with:

  • Dangerous Driving contrary to section 320.13(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Operation of a Motor Vehicle while over 80 milligrams of alcohol contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired by alcohol contrary to section 320.14 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused was released on a promise to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on December 19, at 161 Elgin St. in Ottawa.

The Ottawa OPP reminds all motorists to not operate motor vehicles after consuming alcohol or drugs.
