Seattle police pulled over a man for driving his car with the headlights off Thursday night. What started as an ordinary traffic stop ended with the 73-year-old driver allegedly spilling cocaine all over himself.

In the video, Officer Nic Abts-Olsen asked the driver for his licence and registration, and walked back to his cruiser. When he returned to the car, the officer asked the driver, “What’s in your left hand?” and the driver quickly responded, “Nothing.”

Abts-Olsen asked the driver to show his left hand, then after a few seconds, remarked, “Are you kidding me? You’re about to snort coke on the side of the road?”

Seattle police released the video on its YouTube channel, taking a holiday-themed PSA approach with text slates that included reminders such as “Please abstain from using cocaine, especially during a traffic stop.” Each text slate was accompanied by the sound of bells jingling.

The back and forth continued with the driver at one point claiming that the powder was “vitamin pills that I take.”

Abts-Olsen quickly contradicted the claim, saying, “That’s not a vitamin,” and the driver immediately responded, “I know.”

Eventually the officer removed the driver from the car and placed him in handcuffs.

Abts-Olsen asked the driver, “What would possess you to do that on a traffic stop with a police officer right behind you? I just don’t understand.”

The driver quickly responded, “I don’t understand either. I’ve never had a traffic ticket.” The man was arrested for narcotics possession, according to The Associated Press.
