Lambton OPP have charged a 38-year-old Woodstock tractor-trailer driver who they say was hauling a flammable product on Highway 402 Monday morning after consuming three times the legal limit of alcohol.

The man was busted near Nauvoo Road. In their statement, OPP gave a “huge shoutout” to the concerned motorists who called to report erratic driving.

The man was driving a red 2015 Peterbilt tractor trailer, towing a dual trailer containing 63,500 kilograms of propane, police said.

He faces three charges: driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor, being impaired while driving a motor vehicle and driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

“The driver provided a (breath) sample nearly three times the legal limit,” police said in the statement.

He will appear in Sarnia court on May 7.

The tractor-trailer and its load were seized. “The owner of the trailer and propane were notified in order to safely take carriage of the propane,” police said.
