A Brantford man is now facing charges after being clocked going more than double the speed limit in a 60 km/h zone, Hamilton police say.

According to a police news release, officers were looking for speeders in the area of Jerseyville Road West and Alberton Road, near Mystic Golf Club, on Sunday just before noon.

That’s when an officer clocked a black Ford Focus going 124 km/h on Jerseyville, where the posted speed limit is 60 km/h, police say.

Police stopped the car, and a 21-year-old Brantford man was arrested for stunt driving. His car was impounded for a week.

“Hamilton police are reminding drivers that stunt driving, aggressive driving and speeding will not be tolerated,” police said in a statement. “A zero tolerance approach will be taken by police as the safety of everyone is paramount.”
