Durham Police say a 38-year-old Pefferlaw man faces impaired charges after allegedly driving with his seven-year-old daughter in his vehicle on Saturday evening (June 16).

Police say officers responded about 7:30 p.m. to the Cannington area after a man left a residence with the child in his vehicle. Police were able to locate the vehicle in Pefferlaw and the driver was taken into custody. The young passenger was not injured.

The man is charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and exceeding the legal blood alcohol limit. He was released on a promise to appear. His name is being withheld to protect the identity of the child.
