London police say a man fled a traffic stop Sunday night.

Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after a man was found injured when he was arrested by London police Sunday night.

Police said the man fled a traffic stop around 9:40 p.m. Sunday night. He was located a short distance away with an injury, and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Multiple officers and a police service dog were involved in the search, police said.

The officers were uninjured and the investigation is ongoing.

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) was notified of the man’s injury and has invoked its mandate.

The SIU is an arms-length provincial agency that investigates events involving the police that have resulted in death, serious injury, or reports of sexual assault.
