Niagara police officers found an unexpected surprise Saturday when conducting RIDE checks — a man riding in the trunk of a car.

An officer first noticed something was up when he counted more passengers in the vehicle than there were seatbelts.

When an extra passenger moved to retrieve her ID, another person was spotted hidden in the trunk, police say.

According to a police press release, riding in the trunk is considered a stunt under the Highway Traffic Act, and so the driver was charged, had their licence suspended and the vehicle was seized for seven days.
