The driver of this Mercedes Benz is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop in Burlington Thursday (Jan. 9).

A 41-year-old driver with two prior distracted driving charges has been charged a third time in Burlington after an OPP officer stopped him in rush hour traffic.

The incident occurred near the QEW and Walkers Line during the evening rush hour traffic Thursday (Jan. 9).

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said the officer was walking back to their cruiser at a traffic stop when they allegedly saw the Mercedes driver stop beside them, “texting, oblivious to the officer who walked into rush hour traffic to stop them.”

The driver has been charged with distracted driving and careless driving.
