Officers were targeting “the big four” — aggressive driving and speeding, impaired driving, distracted driving and seatbelt violations.
Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police officers were busy over the long weekend, as they took part in Operation Impact.
Officers across the country were looking for “the big four” over Thanksgiving — that includes aggressive driving and speeding, impaired driving, distracted driving and those not wearing seatbelts.
In the Ottawa Valley, 45 speeding tickets were handed out while police charged 19 drivers with hazardous moving violations, 10 for seatbelt infractions and caught two distracted drivers.
Police say seven drivers were charged with stunt driving (going 50 km/hr over the posted limit). Those drivers had their licenses suspended and vehicles impounded.
