A 48-year-old Tecumseh man faces charges after the Ontario Provincial Police stopped an allegedly drunk driver on Hwy. 401.

Police officers in Chatham-Kent were monitoring traffic on the highway with the use of a radar around 3:30pm Saturday when they spotted a vehicle going more than 140km/hr.

After stopping the driver, officers found out the driver had been drinking, so they took him back to the detachment for more testing.

The man is now charged with driving with having a blood-alcohol level of more than 80mgs. He will appear in court next month.

Police are warning drivers they are actively looking for drivers who engage in what they call the “Big 4” driving behaviours; drunk driving, speeding, distracted driving, and not wearing a seatbelt.
