Parry Sound woman is ninth this year facing a drunk driving charge

Local police laid a drunk driving charge against a Parry Sound woman after stopping a vehicle before the lunch hour Tuesday.

On March 5, police stopped a vehicle shortly before 11 a.m. after noticing it leave a parking spot on Bay Street and then not proceed on a green light after stopping on the red.

Shelby Campbell, 22, Parry Sound, is charged with driving while impaired, driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 mL of blood and being a novice driver with alcohol in her system.

The driver was released and is scheduled to appear at the Parry Sound Courthouse on March 21. The vehicle was impounded for seven days.

This is the ninth impaired driving charge the West Parry Sound OPP have laid in 2019.

The OPP reminds motorists that there is no safe amount of drug or alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 911 immediately.
