Orangeville police have charged two men after seizing what investigators estimate to be about $10,000 worth of marijuana during a traffic stop last week.

At about 10 p.m. on Wednesday (July 22), police stopped a vehicle on John Street.

After speaking with the driver, police say the officer claimed to have smelled a strong odour of marijuana coming from within the car.

After investigating further, police claim to have seized about two kilograms of marijuana from the vehicle. Officers estimate the street value of the marijuana to be about $10,000.

Henry Thongkham, 22, and Jamal Reid, 19, both of Mississauga, are each charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance.

None of the charges have been proven in court. Both the accused are scheduled to answer to the allegations in an Orangeville courtroom on Aug. 24.
