Occurrence Type: Flat Tire Sparks Suspicion
Occurrence #: BA16021514
Date: Monday, May 2, 2016 – 10:10pm

A female with a flat tire entering a RIDE Program held by Barrie Police Officers the night of May 2nd ended up with Impaired Care and Control charges.

On Monday, May 2nd, 2016 at 10:10pm a vehicle approached the RIDE Program that had been set up by Traffic and Platoon Officers within the City of Barrie. As the vehicle advanced towards officers, the metal rim grinding on the pavement could be heard and sparks could be seen coming from the flat tire. When the female driver was approached, she was unaware her tire was flat and did not know how long she had been driving with it that way. After letting police know she had been out for a couple glasses of wine, the 29-year-old Elmvale female was charged with Impaired Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle.

She was transported to the Barrie Police Service for further breath samples where she blew double the legal limit. Once sober, the female was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date at the end of the month. Her licence will be suspended for 90 days and her car will be impounded, flat tire and all, for 7 days.
