The Timmins Police Service arrested a local resident late Wednesday afternoon (Jan. 1) on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by the Provincial Court in Timmins.

While completing a routine traffic stop at the intersection of Preston Avenue and Wilson Avenue for a Highway Traffic Act violation, a Timmins Police Service officer determined that the driver was wanted in regards to an arrest warrant. It was further discovered that the driver was in breach of conditions imposed upon him by the Provincial Court in Timmins.

The man was arrested after the validity of the warrant and imposed conditions were confirmed by Timmins Police dispatch personnel.

As a result, Austin Plourde, 18, of Timmins was taken into police custody.

He was held in custody and awaits a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the original charges laid against him.
