A 16-year-old from Sturgeon Falls faces multiple charges after a traffic accident there Monday.

On July 22 at 12:15 a.m., West Nipissing OPP officers responded to a single-vehicle accident on Du Lac Drive in Sturgeon Falls.

The vehicle veered off the road hitting a light post. The three occupants were not injured.

The 16 year-old driver from Sturgeon Falls was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 Plus) and
  • Careless Driving.

The youth is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Youth Court of Justice in North Bay.

The identity of the young person charged in this investigation is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

It was the second arrest for drunk driving in just two days.

On July 20, at 7:15 p.m., OPP got a traffic complaint regarding a possible impaired driver travelling westbound on Highway 17 from North Bay.

Officers stopped the vehicle on Highway 17 in Verner.

Bradley Duhaime, 25, from Sudbury, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 Plus) and
  • Dangerous operation.

Duhaime is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sturgeon Falls on September 5.

Both drivers were issued a 90-day Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension, and the vehicles were impounded for seven days.
