MAPLETON – Yesterday, Feb. 14, 2018 at approximately 12:10 a.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police was conducting routine patrols on County Road 8, Township of Mapleton. The officer observed two snowmobiles at the side of the road. The officer stopped to ensure the riders were not in distress. When approaching the snowmobiles they both attempted to leave.

The driver of one snowmobile appeared to get stuck. The officer was able to approach the operator and while speaking with him the officer formed the belief that he was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and transported to a local OPP Detachment for testing.

Fifty-three-year-old Henry John Linde of Moorefield has been charged with impaired driving, and driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood. A 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on March 13, 2018.
