Three Sudbury-area women face drinking and driving-related charges laid in the North Bay area over the Canada Day long weekend.

This brings the total of impaired drivers charged by the North Bay OPP to 25 for 2019.

In the first case, officers received a traffic complaint in Mattawa, east of North Bay, on Friday around 3:30 p.m.

After speaking to the driver, officers requested that she provide a breath sample into a roadside screening device, which she failed.

The driver was brought to the detachment for further testing.

After a police investigation, a 59-year-old woman from Copper Cliff was charged with impaired driving and failing a breath test. Charged is Lori Rogerson.

In the second case, North Bay OPP officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) Program on Highway 17 in North Bay on Saturday around 2 a.m.

“A vehicle stopped onto the shoulder of the highway and the driver started walking away,” police said in a release. “The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired driving and brought to the North Bay OPP Detachment for testing.”

Police charged a 30-year-old woman from Onaping with failing or refusing to comply with a demand to provide a breath sample. Charged is Jill Doyle.

Later that day, around 11 p.m., officers from the North Bay OPP were conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 11/17 in the City of North Bay.

Officers saw a suspect driving erratically and conducted a traffic stop.

After speaking to the driver, officers requested that she provide a breath sample into a roadside screening device, which resulted in a fail.

The driver was brought to the detachment for further testing.

As a result, police charged a 28-year-old woman from Nickel Centre with impaired driving and failing a breath test. Charged is Tina Schutt.

All accused were issued a 90-day Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicles were impounded for seven days.

They were all released on a promise to appear and are scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay at a later date.
