A 24-year-old woman from Oshawa faces six driving-related charges after a collision earlier this month seriously injured three people.

On Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at approximately 3 a.m., officers investigated a collision at Simcoe Street North near Robert Street where a northbound Volkswagen Jetta lost control and left the roadway, struck a tree and collided with an apartment building. Three of the five occupants of the car, including the 24-year-old female driver, suffered serious, non-life threatening injuries.

On Friday, February 26, 2016, members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch arrested the driver. The two passengers injured in the collision continue to recover in hospital.

Katelyn MITCHELL, age 24, of Mitchell Avenue in Oshawa, is charged with: Impaired Driving; Impaired Driving Cause Bodily Harm x2; Exceed 80 mgs; Exceed 80 mgs Cause Bodily Harm x2; Dangerous Driving; and Dangerous Driving Cause Bodily Harm x2. She was held for a bail hearing.
