Thunder Bay Police are asking drivers to be extra cautious when driving on West Arthur Street at the intersection with Highway 61, as evacuees may not be familiar with traffic volumes in the city
Police are advising drivers to exercise caution on a busy city street to ensure the safety of evacuees who may not be familiar with traffic volumes in the city.
Thunder Bay Police Service put out a public service announcement on Sunday asking drivers to use extra caution while driving near hotels on West Arthur Street near Highway 61.
The city is hosting nearly 1,000 evacuees from Pikangikum First Nation who were forced to leave their community due to smoke from nearby forest fires.
Police say they will continue to work with community leaders on educating evacuees about traffic safety to ensure they are in a happy and safe environment while in the city.
