Peterborough man faces charges

The Timmins Police Service responded to a traffic complaint called in by an alert citizen about a vehicle being driven in an erratic fashion in the area of Balsam South in Timmins during the early morning hours of Oct. 30.

The vehicle was located by Timmins Police officers and the driver was interviewed at the scene.

Based on the observations made by the officers, the driver was required to provide a breath sample directly into an approved screening device.

Based on the results of that test, the driver was arrested and taken to the Timmins Police headquarters to complete further breath testing procedures.

A 30-year-old Peterborough, Ontario, man has been charged with:

  • One count of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Operate Motor Vehicle – More than 80 Mgs of Alcohol in 100 Mls of Blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused was released from police custody on a Promise to appear requiring that he attend Provincial Court in Timmins on Nov. 22 to answer to the charges laid against him.
