A traffic complaint led to the arrest of an alleged impaired driver on Highway 7 in Kawartha Lakes Sunday (Aug. 24).

According to police, officers located and stopped a motorist that was reportedly driving in an erratic manner.

“The officer approached the driver and determined that he had been consuming alcohol. The ensuing investigation led to the driver’s arrest. The vehicle was towed from the scene and will be impounded for seven days,” reads a media release from police.

Matthew Cowie, 26, of Emily Township, was charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

He is scheduled to appear in Lindsay court on Sept. 19.
