Northumberland OPP have laid drug charges following a traffic stop on the 401 on the weekend.

Police say officers stopped a van travelling east at 141 km/h near Brighton.

An investigation revealed the 23-year-old driver was in possession of cocaine and marijuana leading to possession of a schedule I substance and driving with cannabis readily available charges as well as a speeding charge.

The Stoney Creek man was released and will appear in Brighton court on September 3.
