On Nov. 23, 2019 at approximately 1:30 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police investigated the driver of a motor vehicle on Highway 6 for a Highway Traffic Act violation.
During the course of the investigation officers formed the opinion that the driver had been consuming alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.
Brandy Laidman, 43-years-old of Hamilton has been charged with:
- Impaired operation – 80 plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood)
- Racing contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
A 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on Dec. 27, 2019.
If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.
