A police officer interviews drivers during a RIDE program.

After allegedly blowing four times the legal limit, a woman faces impaired driving charges.

A concerned citizen called 9-1-1 to report a suspected drunk driver in East Gwillimbury on Friday. Officers stopped the vehicle on Mount Albert Road.

Police say that the female driver had a one-year-old baby in the backseat when she was arrested.

The Children’s Aid Society was notified and the baby was placed in the care of a family member.

The woman’s driver’s licence was already under suspension from a previous impaired driving incident in January, according to York Regional Police.

Between April 8 and April 15, 24 drivers have been charged with drunk driving in the York Region.

York Regional Police have received over 800 calls to 9-1-1 which have led to more than 490 criminal charges this year.
