Police have arrested and charged a man with impaired driving after both York Regional Police and Ontario Provincial Police received several calls from concerned citizens Friday morning.

Calls started coming in at around 9:30 a.m. Sept. 15 as residents observed a man in a red Ford pickup truck driving erratically, police said.

The man exited Hwy. 400 onto Davis Drive in Newmarket, police said.He was eventually located and stopped by York Regional Police in the area of Green Lane and Main Street in East Gwillimbury.

The driver was arrested for alcohol impairment, he is now in police custody.
